Opening the G-CONNECT

Before open the device read this:

These instructions will void your warranty. While every precaution is taken to ensure nothing bad happens, all actions are at your own risk.

There's no screws on g-connect case, so basically use old credit cards, guitar picks or some Iphone opening tools.
This "click and lock" case are not friendly to open, so if necessary do like a jedi and use the force...

Pull the main board slowly. Take care with the wi-fi antennas in the back and the little white plastics used to cover the Power and WiFI button.

Remove this four black rubber covers to lose the screws and release the hard drive.

To release the main board it's necessary remove the wireless card in the back, remove this two screws and the antenna wires.

The black tape used to hold the antenna wires are covering the battery hole.  This adhesive may paste the main board, remove to release them.

Removing the hard drive we can see the Hynix 2gb flash memory used to store the systems and probably the ethernet chipset.

Mainboard
Ethernet Chipset !?!??
Remove the three screws around the main board to remove from the frame. If the iron frame appears pasted in the main board, may be the rubber used to cover the processor and improve the heat dissipation. No worries, just pull gently.

Let's remove the rubber to look the processor further.

Looks like the same Marvell used in Seagate GoFlex Net...

Some pictures of memory chips (128mb each.. total 256mb RAM)...

And the Atheros wireless card.

To finish this post... I always smell a rat when I see a thing like this in a main board..

Next post.. Let's investigate this connector furthermore...
